In short
Client: Jacco Oostwouder Events
The assignment: to realise a covered ice rink facility in the centre of Almere, with an open and accessible appearance befitting a public event in the city centre.
Situation
An outdoor ice rink was set up in the centre of Almere as a crowd-puller. A tent solution was required for this location that would offer sufficient protection from the weather, while simultaneously feeling open and inviting to passers-by and visitors in the centre.
Result / solution
For the ice rink in Almere Kontent Structures A tent structure of 25 by 35 metres with a side height of 3 metres (ES225) was realised. This tent formed the main cover for the ice rink and was fitted with glass and plastic walls, combined with a tarpaulin roof. This choice of materials kept the construction light and open, with good visibility from outside to inside, while visitors and skaters were protected from the elements.
Attached to the main tent is a 10 by 10 metre tent with a 3-metre side height (ES225), which served as a functional ancillary space. In addition, two 5 by 5 metre pagoda tents were erected, offering extra space for activities such as skate hire or catering.
The combination of a spacious main tent, a practical annex, and pagoda tents created a complete and atmospheric accommodation around the ice rink, suitable for a wide audience in the centre of Almere.
